The Urban Pitch Podcast: Why We’re Stoked for the USMNT and USWNT

It’s been a while since we’ve been able to say this about the USMNT and USWNT, but we’re so back.

The last few World Cup cycles haven’t been exactly a breeze for both the United States men’s and women’s national teams.

The USWNT is no longer the clear cut best team in the world like it once was, with nations like Spain, England, and Japan all making a case for the throne. For the men, it’s been a wave of instability as the team has gone through coaching changes, player feuds, and the pressure of unrealistic expectations set by fans and the media.

However, both teams are now in a pretty good space, all things considered. The USWNT has been a deadly force since the disappointing early exit at the 2023 World Cup under manager Emma Hayes, with a good mix of exciting youth and experienced veterans.

The USMNT re-signed Mauricio Pochettino for four more years, and the Argentine manager will look to fully sculpt the squad in his vision with more time and sway than he had in his abbreviated first World Cup cycle.

We dive into why each team should be optimistic heading in to their next World Cup, in addition to other headlines from around the world of soccer on the latest episode of the Urban Pitch Podcast!
