Former world champion Lucia Kevicka’s creativity and technique has made her one of the most respected and decorated freestylers in the world. In the latest edition of Freestyler’s Playlist, we get an inside glimpse at the tunes that get her through her intense training sessions.
With one Super Ball title and a handful of podium finishes, Slovakian freestyler Lucia Kevicka has consistently demonstrated that she is a bonafide freestyle star that is not going away anytime soon. Like many freestylers, Kevicka grew up playing traditional football, but a slew of ankle injuries led to her leaving the game at just 16 years old.
However, her career in football was far from over. After discovering freestyle via videos on the Internet, she began practicing tricks and realized that she had quite a knack for them. Despite the lack of women’s competitions at the time, she stuck with it long enough to see the door open for female freestylers. Nearly a decade into her career, Kevicka has accumulated plenty of hardware in her trophy case, including a Super Ball win in 2012, a three-peat of second place finishes from 2014-2016, and a third place finish in 2017.
While she could easily rest on her laurels and ride out into the sunset, Kevicka continues to train hard on a daily basis, with her eyes set on another world championship. With Super Ball 2018 coming up in just over a month, you can bet her training sessions have upped in intensity, fueled by her up-beat playlist of songs from artists from around the world.
“I like trainings because there is no coach, I can do what I love,” Kevicka said.
