In the latest episode of the Urban Pitch Podcast, Ramsey, Julio, and Brigitte discuss the most recent El Trafico playoff match between LA Galaxy and LAFC, and see where it fits in the short yet electric history of the rivalry.
Any time LAFC and LA Galaxy square off, you can be sure of the following: plenty of beer showers, back-and-forth banter on social media, and most importantly, a hard-fought, extremely intense match.
With last week’s El Trafico derby coming in the MLS Cup Playoffs, we got all of those in exponentially higher quantities.
In front of a deafening sold out crowd, LAFC was able to will their ways to a 3-2 victory over their arch rival Galaxy. A stoppage time game winner from Christian Arango sent the already buzzing Banc of California Stadium into a cacophony of screams, chants, and yes, beer tosses. More so than the exciting action on the pitch, the stadium atmosphere was the star of the match.
The Urban Pitch Podcast crew was there to take in all the vibes, and they discuss what the victory means for LAFC (other than just another win in the quest for their elusive first MLS Cup title), their favorite moments in the match, and whether or not it’s the best El Trafico installment they’ve seen so far.
